Here’s a completely hypothetical situation. Lets say its dark outside and you go out to have a cigarette. While you’re smoking that delicious butt, a car pulls up to your neighbor’s house. Two well-dressed men get out, ring the doorbell, and shoot your neighbor in the head. As they drive away you get a perfect view of the make, model, and license plate number of the car. You’re completely hidden in the shadows so no one knows you are even there.
The next day, when the fuzz come around looking for witnesses, they knock on your door. What do you do? Do you tell them what you saw? Indeed it would seem it’s your civic duty to tell the cops what you know. You could potentially prevent other murders and help apprehend the men that have killed your neighbor. You have concrete eye-witness evidence. Does the nature of the murder determine how you react?
I keep my mouth shut. Nobody likes a witness. Especially people with guns.
