Arabian Knights (Muppet Heard a Rumor) | 2:16 (2011)

Muppet heard a rumor. It was just a rumor. Muppet sings another one of his favorite songs, this time Arabian Knights by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Lovable menace. Hot of the heels of last year’s hit single, In Heaven.

You thought this was going to be a post about how the current 3D craze is too much. The proliferation of 3D movies has reached ridiculous levels and I’m yearning for the good ol’ days of flatties.

Not so. I love 3D. As long as it’s done well and not as a marketing afterthought, I’m all for it.

However, this French fellow has apparently discovered a way to watch movies in 3D without glasses. His solution? Attach electrodes to the side of your face that make your eyelids blink rapidly and uncontrollably. I shit you not. Watch the below video. It’s pretty disgusting. And creepy. The only thing that saves it is his smooth French accent.

The jury is out as to whether this is real or not. The video seems a little too produced. And I suspect few people will have the balls to actually try to confirm it. I’ll take my blue and red cardboard glasses over this any day.

Haunted | 2:00 (2010)

I had experienced several hauntings. Doors creaking closed. Strange vibrations. Chills. I began to lose sleep. Why do ghosts torment the weary? I’d leave the music playing and the kitchen lights on in order to fall asleep. Out of sick curiosity, I set up the video camera and aimed it at the kitchen. One night I captured this. The ghost did not waste much time. Of course I used the video to fool around with different visual styles in post. This was the result.

aka… A Hipster Haunting. aka… Paranormal Craptivity.

Would you know what to do if you were the first contact with an intelligent alien race? Most historians and scientists agree that this would be the most important moment in all of human history. So I suggest you bone up. Don’t want to screw it up.

This is really scary and you probably shouldn’t watch it if you have trouble sleeping. Like I did. Super-interesting nonetheless.

It’s ok though. If you do have trouble sleeping after watching the video, you can download the iPhone app, Sleep Cycle. Pretty much the coolest app I’ve so far used and the best 99 pennies I’ve ever spent. Sleep Cycle is an alarm clock on HGH. It stays in bed with you and actually measures how you toss and turn through the night using the iPhone’s accelerometer. These subtle measurements allow the app to determine what sleep phase you are in. “Waking up in the lightest sleep phase feels like waking without an alarm clock – it is a natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed.” So even though you set the alarm for a certain time, it can wake you up at any point during a 30 minute window, according to what phase you are in. After a while, it learns your sleep patterns and displays them in nightly graphs. You can even annoy your friends by posting the graphs to Facebook!

Naturally, I was skeptical at first, but so far this thing works like gangbusters. Since I started using it, I don’t feel groggy during the day and have had more energy than I know what to do with. Don’t know if it’s magic or psychological or if it just works, but color me a believer. Now I can’t wait to go to sleep. Read more about it here and here.

I thought this was really interesting… and maybe a little disturbing. Nixon’s speech writer drafted the below letter to be read in the event that Apollo 11 ended in tragedy.

Happy Halloween to the ghoulish. Before you go trick or treating, check out this hysterical infomercial by Adam Green and Ariescope Pictures. So brilliantly acted and edited. This video was done with a lot of conviction. Warning: Pretty damn vulgar and violent. Jack-Chop!

Is this the face of Freddy Krueger? This story is equally terrifying and intriguing. Apparently, every night, thousands of people around the world see this man in their dreams. I suppose the same thing can be said about Barack or Brad Pitt, but this guy is far more interesting. Who is he? Why are people seeing this image? Is it a hybrid impression created by cultural anxieties? Or is this man actually able to go in and out of the dream world like Freddy Krueger? thisman.org is a website that seeks to gather information and accounts of this strange phenomenon.

I know when I dressed up as Freddy for three Halloween’s in a row, I didn’t look like that. But maybe I got it wrong. Sweet dreams, dream warriors.
