Howdy folks. Wanted to clue you in to something I’ve been working on lately. Recently, I executive produced a new web series for WeddingCentral.com. Wedding Central is the sister network of WE tv and has positioned itself as all wedding programming, all the time. We had a few bucks lying around at the end of 2009 and decided to do an original online series as a companion to the network.

Bridal Breakdown is what came out of it. And what better way to be a dude at a women’s network then by creating a bridal prank show? Essentially, Punk’d for brides. We told these women they were being filmed for a documentary on weddings in NY, but as the cameras rolled, we rolled in our pranksters to wreak havoc on these unsuspecting brides. The wedding industry is big business and many women these days take themselves a little too seriously when it comes to the big day. I think BB works as a light-hearted approach to taking a step back and realizing this is a time to celebrate, not be a bridezilla. Yeah right! Messing with people is just too much fun. Pranking a bride isn’t THAT mean is it?

The show went live on Monday, February 8th. It’s gotten a little press here and there. But today we were picked up by Entertainment Tonight for a special segment to air tonight at 7:30pm on CBS, with possibly maybe others in the coming weeks. That’s pretty cool for a web only show! Mary Hart might be talkin’ ’bout our show. Mary Friggin’ Hart. She’s been doin’ this since ’82.

You can watch the first episode below. We’ll release one each Monday on WeddingCentral.com for the next six weeks. Try not to cringe too much. Enjoy!

…with envy. Oh! A little old, but blogger Brian Lynch makes the argument that 30 Rock is a rip-off of The Muppet Show. Not a bad show to rip off I must say. There’s not a very strong case here, but it’s fun to analyze nonetheless. The Tracy Jordan-Gonzo comparison is quite compelling. She may be a little too socially retarded, but is Liz Lemon our generation’s Kermit The Frog?

I resisted this show for as long as I could. I was offended by the concept, not only as an Italian, but as someone from Jersey who’s spent many summers on the Jersey Shore. Monday, on MLK Day, I did what any regular white guy with a lot of time on his hands would do… I watched a marathon of this glorious train wreck, catching up just in time for the finale this passed thursday. And I came to the simple conclusion that this show is amazing television. Some of the best reality TV I’ve seen since The Osbournes. (I don’t watch much reality tv). It’s easy to tell why Jersey Shore is such a megahit. It’s got incredible characters and hilarious situations. (< - see what i did there?)

I'm converted. And after watching the terribly produced reunion show, I'm pretty sure the show is scripted. Which I don't mind in the least.

I’m kind of mesmerized by the whole late night drama going on right now. While I’m firmly planted on Team Conan, I don’t really fault Leno for this mess. Either way, it’s been comic gold. Here’s my solution. Local news -10:30, Leno – 11, Conan’s Tonight Show at 11:30. Everyone wins. NBC will get a leg up with early news. Leno gets a show. Conan gets the tonight show at 11:30. It could work!

Speaking of mesmerized, say what you will about his interview style, but I’ve always been a fan of Charlie Rose’s black background.

Hear what Jeff Zucker has to say. Straight from the horse’s mouth.

Why do sandwiches cut on angle taste better? Admit to yourself they do. Apparently food tastes better when it’s easier to eat. This must go back to cavemen times. When we were all hunters, the food that was easier to catch was what you ate. Neanderthals were not eating cheetahs and kangaroos and peregrine falcons. They were eating cows, sheep… and presumably turtles?

You have to wonder how good a Larry David would taste had it been cut diagonally. Might have at least been on par with a Ted Danson. I’ll tell you one thing… I’ll never eat a sandwich that hasn’t been cut on angle ever again. I won’t. Won’t do it.

While this goes against one of my rules: Attempting to talk seriously and analyze funny things never works… (I hated The Comedians of Comedy and The Aristocrats) There is a new fan-made documentary on the greatest show in television history. The Arrested Development Documentary Project looks to have interviews by the main cast and crew of Arrested Development. I hope it’s a little more than a DVD special feature. I’m willing to make an exception to the rule in this case because the source material is so friggin’ good. And it’s just so ridiculous. Trying to wax poetic about a show as insane and over the top as AD is really stupid. But it’s our love for the show that will get us to watch. While I maintain that I’m glad AD ended when it did, I can’t wait for the full length movie. Until then, we have this….
